Alarm Generation For Metro Rail

Challenge
We were asked to develop application, which would receive all the alarms generated by the
various subsystems of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation i.e. Signaling subsystem, Radio
subsystem, Time Module subsystem, Track Maintenance subsystem, Tunneling subsystem
etc. These system are connected to the fiber network and communicate with a non standard
protocols.
As this was a very critical application in functioning of the DMRC we were asked to ensure
that in case of any failure of the subsystem, alarm should be flashed on screen less than
1 sec otherwise the application would not be accepted.
Solution
After spending time on analyzing, details and research, we came up with a solution of a common application for all the subsystems, which shall run as a service on Windows NT.
As this application was to work fast it was designed on VC++.
Currently this application has been running successfully for more than 5 years now and there has not been a single support calls once it was handed over to DRMC.

POS Application for handhelds

Challenge
One of our US based customer needed a POS application, which would pickup data from the back
office application and allow doing a complete sale, which includes the following:
- Credit Card Swiping
- Receipt Printing
- Scanning Products
- Data from back office application
The major requirement of the client was that the application should be portable to various devices and it should be fast.
Solution
We created an application for the handheld that uses IIS to pick up the data from the back office database and displays information on the device. To keep the speed of the application fast, the application only picks and displays information one screen at a time.
The application has been running successfully for more than 3 years now and now it is in process of being ported to .NET for mobile.

Industrial Reporting Tool

Challenge
One of our customer in Malaysia wanted a generic software for industrial reporting for mother
coil as well as child coil information such as its Length, Width, Thickness, and weight.
The real challenge in this project was to communicate with third party instruments as under:
- WHD
- Gamma Gauge
- Weighing Machine
Solution
WHD (Width Hole Detector) - We used TCP/IP protocol to communicate with this device. We send child coil number to WHD and if WHD find any hole in sheet send its information.
Gamma Gauge - We used COM port to communicate with this device. Gamma Gauge sends coil thickness continuously at com port.
Weighing Machine - We used COM port to communicate with this device. Coil put in weighing machine and press weight Accept button in screen then takes weight from machine to associated text box.

Solution
We created an application, which pick up the data from the back office database and displays information on the various screen as required. Here user can analyzed the data, plan the items qty and posted it into back office.
The application has been running successfully for more than 4 years now and now it is in process of being ported to .NET
